About

London Physical Therapy has been operating since 2017, founder Adrian took a keen interest in the mechanics of the body due to his own experience of chronic musculoskeletal pain and issues.

Growing up, Adrian was heavily involved in sports: Football, Cross- country, Sprinting, Cricket, Basketball, Martial arts, Weight training and more. When he looks back on those years (especially his teens) he realised the extreme demands he placed on his body expecting it to achieve peak performance without thinking about the mechanics of it and how it was functioning.

"I wasn’t doing any form of preparation whatsoever...no stretching before working out, and if I did it was only when I was told to by school teachers/coaches which  in hindsight, was never enough ".

Initially, Adrian experienced pain in his knees which was diagnosed as Osgood–Schlatter Disease (OSD) which is inflammation of the patellar ligament at the tibial tuberosity (Apophysitis). It is characterised by a painful bump just below the knee that worsens with activity but improves with rest. An episode of OSD can typically last from a few weeks to a number of months. Shortly after, Adrian also began to experience issues with his back (Thoracic) which posed various issues for his mobility and  breathing, which at one point became chronic. Lower back pain(Lumbar) was to follow with the additional agony of sciatica, shin splints and groin pains. This would have a huge effect on his moods as he was frequently in pain.

After numerous appointments with Osteopaths, Chiropractors and receiving Sports and Thai massage treatments that resulted in only temporary relief, Adrian realised he had to become proactive in order to see improvements.  He began to practise a series of stretching and mobility routines which he'd picked up from various people he'd met along his search for good health.  However, this was no easy feat as Adrian was working long hours as an HGV driver which again took a huge toll on his body; mentally and physically.  Seeing that things were rapidly deteriorating and the pain was intensifying Adrian was determined to make a change.

"Gaining an understanding of the body in more detail, it was becoming even more evident that I had been neglecting myself.

...I then started looking into how the body works, anatomy and physiology books and websites...I decided to do a sports massage course at the School Of Natural Therapies".

After Adrian had qualified as a sports massage therapist, someone suggested that he should start doing actual treatments.  One treatment led to another and since then he's gone on to complete a number of courses such as: OMT (Dry Needling/Medical Acupuncture), ICHAT (Soft Tissue Master Class & Dry Cupping), Rockblades (Graston Technique), John Gibbons Neck & Shoulder Master class & Student To Master with Touch Tuina. The journey is an ongoing process and the learning doesn’t stop.

"I will continue to learn and expand my knowledge and improve my skill set, enabling me to provide a better service. I’m fortunate to enjoy what I do and get great satisfaction from helping others improve their quality of life in every aspect (Mentally, Physically & Emotionally)".
